My First "Furr Real" Customer!

My uncle Keith referred a 74-year-old woman to me the other day. He said she was having issues with her Internet connection at home and she couldn't check her email or download anything. Keith told me she could potentially be a strong customer because she'd more than likely refer me to more people in her area if I did well.

And it did go well. I resolved all her issues and answered any other computer-related questions she had for the hour I was there. I gave her some of my new business cards and she paid me. That was a good feeling to know that I started this business all on my own and because of my technical knowledge, someone paid me for my service. Here's a picture of what my new business cards look like:

Not too shabby at all...especially since they were free! (Maybe once business picks up, I can get some nicer ones, but these work for now).

Anyway, I know this is rather different and strange to have a blog about my company (which has been a little slow-going to get started), but I thought it'd be interesting to track my progress in a "journal" sort of way. I'm excited to help people on the side of my day job so I can feel more productive, continue to learn new things, and make some extra money.

Thanks for the referral Keith and keep em' coming if you know people in need of home-computer help.

And Onto the Next Step

So I got my business cards ordered today. I know it's been a while since I have posted anything here. I've been not really knowing where to go next for the last little while. But I figured, things won't happen by just sitting still. I'm not certain how I'm going to get people to start coming to my blog site here. But I'm going to start handing out business cards and telling people about the business.

So I ask that anyone who's reading this to help me out if you can. Tell your friends and family that I will do home computer-related jobs for a pretty low price right now. They can bring things to me or I can come to them. If you know anyone who needs this kind of help, send them my way. Thanks!

I'm starting a business!

This might be the blog/site I use for my company. I want to buy my own domain and build my own website but that might not happen until later on. My wife and I talked about it and perhaps creating a blog is the best way to go right now.

My business is going to be all about home computer service. I am planning on offering services such as  hardware upgrades, smartphone configurations/customizations, iPhone jailbreaking/unlocking, fixing slow PCs or Macs, reinstalls, fixing virus/malware problems, configuring routers, and more.

More details will follow but I'm pretty excited about this! It will be starting out small but hopefully will grow and be more successful with time. My friend Phil said on his Facebook status the other day "Sometimes the hardest thing is just starting" and I've been thinking about it ever since. I've wanted to do this for a while and by golly, I'm just going to do it. You don't know if you don't at least try.
